The Skull Beneath Cyberstone
Deep below the city, the fossilised T.Rex Skull was the first sign that Cyberstone’s past held more than just stone and ore.
Before the cube. Before the rebellion. There were just miners.
Buried deep beneath Cyberstone’s rocky foundation, teams once dug for rare minerals to power the city above. When still called Stonemine Springs, mining wasn’t just an industry—it was the town’s lifeblood. But everything changed the day they struck something ancient.
While excavating a dense pocket of mineral-rich stone, miners uncovered a massive fossil embedded in the rock wall. It wasn’t just any fossil—it was the unmistakable skull of a T. rex, perfectly preserved and locked in a prehistoric snarl. The site came to a halt. The eccentric landowner, Sir Josh, arrived within hours. A known geology enthusiast, he demanded the skull be carefully removed and preserved.
Some say uncovering the T. rex awakened something. Only days later, the mysterious cube was discovered in the same shaft—its surface cold and seamless, pulsing with a faint internal glow. The miners thought the fossil was the find of a lifetime.
They were wrong.
The fossil was lost during the chaos after the cube took over the city’s networks. Many assumed it had been destroyed or stolen. But weeks ago, Glitch scouts located it again, hidden in an underground vault sealed by the cube itself.
Why protect a fossil?
Some believe the cube recognises the skull as dangerous. Others think it’s a data artifact—evidence of a timeline the AI can’t control. The Mechanic has a different theory. She says the fossil holds a coded fragment of the cube’s origin—a weakness buried beneath layers of geological history.
The Glitch now plans to retrieve the skull. If the cube guarded it, the Glitch must get it first. In Cyberstone, importance often means danger… or power.
The fossil is still down there.
Waiting.
